Let me introduce myself…
Hi, my name is Wendy Savage. I’m 45 years old and a wife and mother of two grown sons. I have lived in Northern California for the past ten years but I am originally from upstate New York.
For the most part, I have tried to lead a simple, private life, but that all changed back in May of 2013 when I was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer. I decided to chronicle my fight with this disease in the hopes of not only keeping my family and friends up to date with my progress, but the hope that if anyone out there was suffering the same fate, they might read this and not feel alone in their fight. I have tried to handle this fight with humor, never losing sight of wanting to make others smile and encouraging everyone to find something to be grateful for everyday. There is beauty all around if you just slow down and look for it.
My journey started in May of 2013 and I thought it was over by February of 2014, so all of the posts that are in a hot pink color are from my initial diagnosis through the end of my first bout with chemotherapy and subsequent removal of my port. Then in January of 2015 my post color changed to purple. I had to pick up posting again as I found out the cancer had returned and this time it is terminal.
I hope that anyone who reads this finds something encouraging, something to make them smile, something to remind them to be grateful. Please feel free to leave a comment if you like. You don’t have to sign up here to do so.
Wendy,
I have just visited your site. It sounds like there have been a lot of ups and downs. You are a very strong and courageous woman. I’m so sorry this has happened to you, I wish there was something I could do to help, but I’m all too familiar with the story. My mother passed away when I was 23.
I wanted to let you know that I have been thinking about you. I will check in with Sue every now and then. I wish you peace and little pain on your journey.
Love and Hugs!
Aunt Christine
