My goodness how time seems to fly!
I got through treatment five and six. Both of those are the new stuff, Taxol. And so far so good. The doctor was spot on telling me that this med would probably made me less nauseous and more tired. So far the fatigue is not overwhelming but she also said the effects of it would be cumulative over the coming weeks. So we shall see. One thing I am noticing is that I’m having some side effects I will be mentioning at my next appointment with my oncologist. The day of treatment my face gets red and itchy around my eyes and cheeks and this time the itching also happened on my hands and lower arms for most of the day. No rash or anything just itching. The nurses give me a hefty dose of benedryl in my IV to help prevent some side effects to the Taxol but some people tend to still have reactions to it. So we will see what my doctor has to say this week. But if these are the worst of the side effects I will feel very fortunate.
Here is a pic from Chemo #5 and in all fairness the hubby took this pic right after my big ol’ dose of benedryl and I was feeling drunk but with out the fun! LOL
And here is a pic from Chemo #6. Notice I don’t look like I’m ready to pass out in this one but I got the bright red cheeks going on. I’m also ready for Halloween as I was dressed in my Halloween vest that I made years ago and my spider bandanna!
My treatments are now weekly and if my calculations are correct my last treatment will be a few days after my birthday. That is providing my blood levels hold steady. I’m not getting shots after every treatment now so my blood levels will probably have a little harder time staying steady. But I am hopeful things will go well and by the beginning of the new year I will be done with all this chemo business. In the mean time I will keep living and keep smiling and look forward to the up coming holiday season. Halloween is just a few days away and the hubby and I will sit down and enjoy a few of my favorite Halloween movies while munching on popcorn. I’m just a big kid at heart and my Halloween isn’t complete until I get to watch “It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown” and “The Legend of Sleep Hollow” from the DVD “The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad”. Oh and let’s not forget “Hocus Pocus”, “Practical Magic” and “Sleepy Hollow”.
Anyway, thanks for stopping by! I’m off to do some cross stitching. And remember, life is short, enjoy your loved ones while you have the chance cause you never know how long you have with them…
Hugs!
