More Baby Steps

With a couple of more appointments to my cancer surgeon under my belt I am pleased to say that things are moving along nicely!

I was able to get the four remaining staples out and the last remaining drain was also removed! What a relief to not have to worry about snagging the tubing and that feeling that something was always pulling on my skin. If you have seen the pictures of my incision from a previous post you know I had a spot on my left side that was very dark where a blood clot had formed. Doctor has been keeping an eye on it and it is slowly showing signs of improvement. So at this point I just have some more healing to do before I can start chemotherapy.

Got some good news this morning! A few weeks ago, right after my surgery, I had the genetic test done to see if I had the the BRCA1 or BRCA2 mutation that could have explained why I got this form of breast cancer. Both tests came back negative for the gene mutation. Which, quite frankly, I am happy about. At least now I know that my kids don’t have to worry about passing it on to their kids. The question still remains, why or how did this happen. And I may never get an answer to that. But I’m okay with that. I believe that everything happens for a reason. That there is a lesson to be learned and THAT is the important thing, not the answer to why.

Thank you to all of you who are still asking about me, still praying for me, still keeping me in your thoughts, still sending good and healing wishes my way. It’s like having the wind at my back so I can keep taking baby steps in the right direction on this journey.

Love and hugs to you all!
